Moon in Taurus. Success. Charity. Giving what you have to spare, taking if you need.
Accruing or collecting Karma. Having/Not Having. You may wonder how do I pass this one off as a Valentine? (My coworkers gave me flack the year I did the Four of Swords.) It's, um, got a rose in it. How about this: If this card was person, at least in the past year, it'd be George Clooney, who sounds like the ideal Valentine date. Barring romantic fantasy (that's SO last year's Valentine), he's involved in important causes. Seems like he'd be a fantastic conversationalist. Just trying to keep up at a distance has been rewardingly "edumacational". The card's symmetry references the Thoth standard. The need for balance is similarly implied in the Waite standard by a depiction of scales. I suspect the rose classically refers to the Rosecrucians, but, it tends to turn up in cards that rely heavily on Karmic balance. Get it right and you have synergy or whatnot, your rose unfolds. The dark, irregular shadow around the disks is based on an outline of Meatwad, in reference to the default online icon of the friend who gave what could be spared to help create this card. (NOT in reference to the recent Moominite scare, which is timely, sure, but otherwise not directly relevant to the timeless meaning of the card.) |
