September: Wild Green

The Next Egg

Wild Green Egg
yellow/orange/green/aquamarine.

I decided to do some of my own sort of doodling on this egg, esepcially since it was mainly an exercise is determining color order and the option of mixing the greens and the oranges. Pysanky Pros seem to frown upon that. It worked for me.

It soon became evident that the shell was weak and cracking. My attempts to cover the cracks with beewax were short-term fixes at best - too short to go much further with the dyes. And we were all impressed that the teal resulted in such a lush green. The cracking egg seemed doomed. I decided to quit while I was ahead.

However, I also had to learn a few lessons about photographing the eggs. Sadly, this egg was inadvertently sacrificed for the cause.
