2003: Red Simple Diagonal

The Next Egg

Red Simple Diagonal
yellow 03/bright red 03

I had intended a far more detailed egg than this one. The red took so well that I stopped while I was ahead. Perhaps because one of my novice companions was reluctant to let her design adjust to the personality of the shell. I wanted to demonstrate that it is ok.

Type A folks are easily frustrated when certain colors don't come out perfectly, and they can't stick tightly to their intended design. The alternative is to make sure that you have sufficient egg coverage from the first color. Later colors only add detail, and not structure, to the design. Then you can stop when the egg takes a middle color beautifully. Covering enough egg with wax so that a later dark color is only an accent can look quite elegant.
