Meditations on Nothing: Fanatic Pun

Munson-Williams Proctor Institute Spring 1995 Student Exhibition

Sculptor (and Photographer): Julia C. Tenney

A prototype for another sculpture to be built out of chicken wire, the professor insisted I finish this piece. When a classmate made me a nine inch nail, I was dully informed it would be used in one of my sculptures. The professor handed me a rusty old spring that might look neat inside the torso. "A downward spiral?" my nail wielding classmate suggested. I finished this piece that night. The final work was never completed and this was chosen for the student exhibit.

It's difficult to photograph, as there are both surface and internal elements of interest. The infamous nail can be found going through the "heart" of the figure.
