Challenge Egg 2

Jane Pollack's Original Egg -->

So, the design isn't too intricate for me, but my dyes suck. Which means I was leaving the egg in for too long at various points in hopes of getting the orange wash to work, or getting the black to a more consistent shade of gray. Too long in the dye, and it will seep under the wax, and undermine all my wonderful crosshatching!

Also, I started this egg around Thanksgiving, and then left it at the orange dye level for four (4) months. Learn from my mistake.

For some reason, I picked the busier designs first. The abundance of crosshatching? Lack of wide open spaces relying on a lighter color taking especially well? Lack of depictions of flora or fauna? I just remember being surprised in April at the comparative ease of the other designs.

(Ok, not the Quilt Designs, which oblige more colors per egg than ever really works for me. I ph33r Jane Pollack's m4d py54nky sk1LL5... or something like that...)
